G ENERAL D ESCRIPTION : U nder direction of the Assistant Parks and Recreation Director, performs duties that support the safe and efficient operation of the Community Center and Tennis Center. These duties include supervising use of the facility and enforcing all facility rules, regulations and policies. The Recreation Leader verifies memberships and assists visitors, members and participants with questions or concerns.  Responsible to monitor and maintain equipment, g a m es, and facility as needed as well as assisting contracted instructors with paperwork and setups. S KILLS , D UTIES , A ND R ESPONSIBILITIES : R EQUIRED S KILLS AND A BILITIES : C omputer and Technology Skills: W o r king knowledge of Microsoft Office software including Word, Excel, and Outlook, as well as, recreational software application. Language Skills: A bility to understand and carry out both written and oral instructions. A bility to effectively provide information and respond to questions from clients, customers, groups of managers, and the general public. A bility to read and understand reports and procedure manuals. M athematical Skills: A bility to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals with and without a calculator. A bility to calculate figures and amounts such as proportion, percentage, volume, and area. R easoning Abilities: A bility to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of situations where only limited standardization exists. A bility to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form and to explain them to others in a clear understandable manner. P h y sical Abilities: C onstantly Incurred (More than 75% of time on job) A bility to sit for extended periods, Ability to communicate orally, Ability to hear conversation. Ability to perform repetitive finger movement, Ability to visually observe physical conditions of the facilities and grounds including potentially hazardous conditions. Frequently Incurred (Between 25% - 75% of time on job) A bility to stand for extend periods, Ability to walk. O ccasionally Incurred (Less than 25% of time on job) A bility to lift and carry medium weight (Max 40 lbs.), Ability to reach high or low level including bending and stooping. Ot her Skills and Abilities: A n understanding of basic business operations. E SSENTIAL D UTIES AND R ESPONSIBILITIES : V erifies membership status of all individuals entering the Community Recreation Center. Processes membership applications and program registrations and payments. P erforms or coordinates all necessary functions to ensure the community center is operating efficiently and to the maximum service of the community. R outinely walks through the facility to insure monitor activity, the safety of users, and to check the status of the facility. P r ovides good customer service to facility users, greets them and addresses needs, concerns, and questions related to the use of the Community Recreation Center. P erforms other essential duties as assigned or required. N O N - E SSENTIAL D UTIES AND R ESPONSIBILITIES : A ssists with inventory, supplies and equipments as necessary P erforms non-essential duties as assigned or required. R EQUIRED Q UALIFICATIONS : Education: N one E xperience and Training: M ust be 18 years or older with some volunteer or paid experience involving interaction with the public or recreation related programs. Licenses/Certification: M ust hold valid Act 33 (Child Abuse) / Act 34 (Criminal History ) clearances . P ossesses CPR/AED credential or the ability to obtain them within 90 days. S UPERVISION F ROM THE F O LLOWING : T his position t ypically receives supervision from the Assistant Parks and Recreation Director. S UPERVISION T O THE F O L LOWING : T his position t ypically does not give supervision to others. W O RK E nvironment : T his position routinely works in a normal indoor environment with both office and gymnasium type settings and is also required to visit outdoor sites including visits park sites, attend seminars and other meetings, while being exposed to outside weather conditions and navigating rough terrain.
