Position Summary We are seeking a passionate and knowledgeable High School U.S. History Teacher to inspire students through engaging instruction, critical thinking, and meaningful exploration of American history. The successful candidate will create a positive learning environment, implement standards-based instruction aligned with the North Carolina Standard Course of Study, and foster academic growth for all learners. Essential Responsibilities • Plan and deliver engaging lessons aligned with the North Carolina Standard Course of Study for American History. • Develop and implement instructional strategies that promote critical thinking, historical inquiry, and civic engagement. • Differentiate instruction to meet the needs of diverse learners, including students with IEPs, 504 Plans, and English Learners. • Assess student learning through formative and summative assessments and use data to guide instruction. • Maintain accurate records of attendance, grades, and student progress. • Establish a positive classroom culture that promotes student achievement, respect, and responsibility. • Communicate effectively with students, parents, and colleagues regarding academic and behavioral progress. • Participate in professional learning opportunities, faculty meetings, and school events. • Collaborate with administrators, counselors, and support staff to ensure student success. • Perform other duties as assigned by the Principal. Qualifications Required: • Bachelor's degree in History, Social Studies Education, or a related field. • Valid North Carolina Teaching License in Social Studies (Grades 9–12) or eligibility to obtain licensure. • Knowledge of North Carolina curriculum standards and best instructional practices. • Strong classroom management and communication skills. Preferred: • Master's degree in Education or a related field. • Experience teaching high school social studies. • Experience integrating technology into instruction. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities • Strong understanding of U.S. History content and historical analysis. • Ability to develop engaging, student-centered lessons. • Ability to analyze student data and adjust instruction accordingly. • Effective collaboration and relationship-building skills. • Commitment to continuous professional growth.
