Description
WSM Industries is a manufacturer and wholesale distributer of a comprehensive line of heating, ventilation and air conditioning products and supplies, and has been in operation for the past 114 years. The fabrication shop utilizes an array of machines, including high-speed lasers, brakes, power rolls, and welding machines. We are looking for a Welder responsible for carbon steel weld preparation, welding, and weld finishing operations to manufacture custom drawings, specifications, or other forms of instructions.
Essential Functions include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
• Weld carbon steel metal (tube, channel, angle) as specified by procedures, layouts, blueprints, diagrams, work orders, oral instructions, and with or without the use of weld procedure specifications (WPS). Welds range from simple tasks to complex welds, performed in varying positions.
• Work includes set-up, laying out work using fixtures/jigs to fabricate, modify, or repair parts.
• Operate and/or use related equipment and tools which include forklifts, hoists, slings, grinders, cutting torches, hand tools, drills, punches, tape measures, etc.
• Read, understand, and follow job order specifications, blueprints, work instructions and procedures.
• Work with minimal supervision to complete tasks on time.
• Maintain level of work performance in accordance with Company Quality Assurance standards and/or job order specifications.
• Maintains a safe and clean work environment by complying with procedures, rules and regulations.
• Perform or assist in other assigned duties as needed.
Skills/Experience:
• 1 year previous welding experience with MIG.
• 1 year previous fabrication/fit-up experience.
• Ability to work overtime as needed (during week and on Saturdays)
• Capability to perform work in various physical positions including, standing, kneeling, sitting, squatting, bending and reaching.
• Capability to perform work off elevated surfaces and in confined spaces.
• Ability to read and comprehend blueprints, tape measures and weld procedure specifications (WPS).
Physical Requirements:
• This position requires continual use of your hands, considerable use of your arms and legs and moving your whole body, such as lifting, stooping, balancing, walking, climbing, standing for prolonged periods of time, and handing materials,
• Must use PPE such as safety glasses, face shield, welding helmet, hearing protection, leather gloves with forearm gauntlets, safety toed boot/shoe, dust mask and arm sleeves (as needed).
• Ability to lift and maneuver 50 pounds.
• Able to work in a hot environment during summer months.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $19.00 - $22.00 per hour
