The Washington Conservation Corps (WCC) is recruiting statewide across more than 260 field crew and Individual Placement positions. Members spend their days outdoors in all weather conditions on projects that restore and enhance landscapes across Washington. Crew members serve on a team of five alongside an experienced crew supervisor who provides training, mentorship, and development opportunities. Individual Placement members instead serve directly with natural resource professionals, gaining field experience and building a network in the environmental sector. WCC supports several crew types. Restoration crews work on habitat restoration and enhancement, including planting trees and shrubs, removing invasive species, and monitoring and maintaining restoration sites. Trail crews handle recreation enhancements such as building and maintaining trails, public camping infrastructure, bridges, and boardwalks. Spike crews travel around the state to complete both restoration and recreation projects, with food and lodging provided while in travel status and time on spike projects varying by crew between roughly 25 and 75 percent of the service term. Many crews take part in all three. Individual Placements may involve environmental research, community outreach and engagement, environmental education, and ecological monitoring. WCC partners with over 100 organisations across Washington State, spanning federal, Tribal, state, and local government and non-profits, and prioritises physical and emotional safety with training provided for all field activities. No prior experience is needed for crew positions, though Individual Placement positions may carry additional qualifications. Applicants must be aged 18 to 25, with exceptions for those with military service or with mental or sensory disabilities, and must be a US citizen, US national, or lawful permanent resident. Preference is given to community members living in Washington State. Alongside the living stipend, members based in King, Snohomish, and Clark counties are eligible for a location-based elevated living allowance. Health insurance is provided through Premera with WCC covering the monthly premium and coverage beginning on the first day of service, and members have access to mental health services through a Member Assistance Program. Basic food benefits may be available through the Department of Social and Health Services. AmeriCorps benefits include a Segal AmeriCorps Education Award anticipated at USD 7,395 on successful completion of the 1,700 hour term, loan forbearance on qualified loans, a childcare assistance programme, skills training and professional development, affinity groups, and E.D. exam fee reimbursement. The attendance policy supports 120 hours of personal time off during the 11 month term, in addition to state holidays and a winter break at the end of December. The schedule is typically Monday to Thursday, 7 am to 5.30 pm. Housing and relocation assistance are not available. Applications are made online at ecology.wa.gov/wcc.
