Better Health & Policy for Families Associate (Public Health Track) Position Summary The Better Health & Policy for Families Associate (Public Health Track) is an applied, research-based internship/practicum opportunity designed for students and early-career professionals interested in advancing family-centered public health, policy analysis, and community-based systems change. This role focuses on understanding and strengthening how families function as primary health ecosystems, while identifying policy and systems-level opportunities to improve mental health, access to care, and workforce pathways. The position integrates quantitative and qualitative methods to inform evidence-based, community-driven solutions. Organization Overview Voice Up is a research-driven public health and workforce innovation model with engagement across 257+ higher education institutions and 42 countries. Through the Applied Purpose Science Research Lab, Voice Up: identifies and strengthens family and community contributions to health and wellbeing connects lived experience to health-related and purpose-driven pathways develops scalable approaches that integrate mental health, identity, and workforce systems Voice Up advances a non-traditional, prevention-focused public health model, recognizing families as foundational units of health. Location Remote (Global Participation Supported) Time Commitment Minimum 150 total hours (standard internship / MPH Applied Practice Experience) Flexible completion across one or multiple academic terms Eligibility Open to students and recent graduates from all academic disciplines, with strong alignment for: Public Health (MPH) Health Policy Social Work Sociology Psychology Public Administration Community Health Primary Responsibilities 1. Family-Centered Public Health Research Conduct mixed-methods research, including: qualitative analysis of lived experiences within families quantitative tracking of engagement and outcomes Identify patterns related to: mental health caregiving roles family dynamics 2. Health Policy Analysis & Systems Mapping Analyze policies impacting: family health and wellbeing access to services workforce pathways Map gaps between: lived experience policy frameworks service delivery systems 3. Community & Family Health Engagement Support engagement with: individuals families community networks Identify informal systems of support and care 4. Workforce & Pathway Development Identify how family roles connect to: health-related careers community leadership Support development of family-centered pathway models 5. Program Evaluation & Impact Measurement Track and analyze: engagement participation outcomes related to family health Contribute to evaluation reports and recommendations 6.
