Description
Summary:
The Visual Media Officer will assist the Communications Department by generati ng, creating, and designing visual material. This function is critical in ensuring that the D isaster Risk Management Authority ’ s ( DRM) messages regarding disaster preparation, risk reduction, and emergency response are properly delivered to the public and stakeholders using a variety of visual channels.
Key Accountabilities:
• Create and develop high-quality visual material, such as infographics, posters, brochures, social media graphics, and video content, to support DRM communication efforts.
• Collaborate with the entire communications team to create visually appealing material that effectively communicates DRM messages and initiatives.
• Assist with the development of graphic materials for public awareness campaigns on disaster risk management and emergency preparedness.
• Contribute to the design , layout, and brand identity of DRM reports, presentations, and materials.
• Support the creation of multimedia material, such as video editing and animation, to improve DRM digital presence.
• Collaborate with photographers and videographers to collect and edit photos and videos for usage in different communication mediums.
• Ensure that all visual material adheres to DRM's branding requirements and presents a consistent visual identity across all platforms.
• Assist with the maintenance of a visual asset library, which includes templates, graphics, and multimedia files.
• Collaborate with various departments at DRM to understand their visual communication requirements and propose innovative solutions.
• Participate in team meetings and share your ideas for developing DRM's visual communication techniques.
Knowledge , Skills, & Attitude :
• Certifications in Graphic Design, Visual Arts, Multimedia Arts, or a related field.
• 1-2 years of experience in graphic design, visual arts, or a related role.
• Basic WordPress Knowledge
• Experience in producing content for public sector organizations or non-profits is a plus.
• Proficiency in graphic design software (e.g., Adobe Creative Suite: Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, Premiere Pro, After Effects). Familiarity with video editing software and multimedia production tools.
• Strong visual storytelling ability and an eye for detail. Ability to create compelling and visually appealing content.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Ability to work collaboratively with a diverse team.
• Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and meet deadlines.
Knowledge of disaster risk management and emergency preparedness is an asset but not required .
