Description The Visitor Information Center Specialist serves as a welcoming ambassador for North Lake Tahoe, helping visitors discover the best experiences, businesses, and recreational opportunities throughout the region. This role is responsible for providing exceptional customer service, sharing accurate and up-to-date information, promoting local businesses and attractions, supporting environmental stewardship messaging, and assisting with retail operations within the Visitor Information Center. The ideal candidate is friendly, knowledgeable, enthusiastic about North Lake Tahoe, and enjoys helping visitors create memorable experiences. Friday-Monday availability required. Requirements Visitor Services & Destination Information • Welcome visitors and provide exceptional customer service. • Answer questions about North Lake Tahoe, including lodging, dining, shopping, transportation, events, and recreational activities. • Provide recommendations based on visitor interests, abilities, budgets, and seasonal conditions. • Assist visitors with maps, brochures, trail information, and trip planning resources. • Stay informed about local events, road conditions, weather, and community happenings. Local Business Promotion • Actively promote North Tahoe Chamber members and local businesses. • Recommend local restaurants, shops, attractions, activities, and services based on visitor needs. • Learn and maintain knowledge of Chamber member businesses and Visitor Center partners. • Help connect visitors with authentic local experiences throughout the region. Recreation & Stewardship Education • Provide information on hiking, biking, boating, beaches, skiing, snowboarding, fishing, and other recreational opportunities. • Educate visitors on responsible recreation and environmental stewardship practices. • Promote Leave No Trace principles and local conservation initiatives. • Encourage visitors to recreate safely and responsibly. Retail Operations • Assist visitors with retail purchases and point-of-sale transactions. • Maintain organized, attractive, and fully stocked retail displays. • Receive, restock, and inventory merchandise. • Keep the Visitor Center clean, organized, and welcoming. • Assist with opening and closing procedures. Administrative Support • Record visitor interactions and other required data. • Monitor brochure inventory and replenish displays as needed. • Support special projects, events, and community outreach activities. • Assist with maintaining accurate information resources for staff and visitors.
