UP TO $5000 SIGN ON BONUS AVAILABLE!!   Friendship Hospital for Animals , a leading AAHA-accredited specialty and emergency hospital in Washington, DC, is seeking an experienced Advanced Veterinary Technician to join our Intensive Care Unit (ICU) team. About the role: Provide exceptional, compassionate nursing care to critically ill and hospitalized patients, treating each patient as your own. Collaborate with board-certified criticalists, emergency clinicians, residents, interns, and technicians to deliver advanced, life-saving care. Utilize advanced technical skills, including vascular access, transfusion therapy, ventilator support, CRIs, invasive monitoring, and complex patient assessment. Monitor critically ill patients, recognize subtle changes, and confidently advocate when every second counts. Care for a wide variety of complex medical and surgical cases in a collaborative, high-acuity ICU. Mentor technicians, assistants, and trainees while fostering a culture of learning and clinical excellence. Support pet owners with compassionate communication during some of their most difficult moments. Excel in a fast-paced environment where teamwork, adaptability, critical thinking, and attention to detail drive exceptional patient care. Schedule: Schedule is usually four 10 hour shifts per week, with some weekends and holidays required. This is a full time position.  What's in it for you? Five or more years of experience in emergency or specialty medicine, including advanced ICU or critical care experience. Strong technical skills, sound clinical judgment, and the confidence to remain calm in high-pressure situations. RECOVER certification, VTS (ECC), Fear Free Certification, and leadership or mentoring experience are a plus.
