TITLE:  Veterans Specialist REPORTS TO: Program Manager LOCATION: Borderplex Region   EMPLOYMENT TYPE: Full-Time, Non-Exempt Employee Career Team is looking to hire a Veterans Specialist who will perform professional work providing career counseling, intensive case management, and priority of service to veterans, eligible spouses, and transitioning service members. This role ensures veterans receive the full range of workforce services for which they are eligible. Work is performed under the supervision of the Program Manager. Your Impact on Career Team's Success: Provide case management and career services to veterans, eligible spouses, and transitioning service members Ensure veterans and eligible persons receive priority of service in accordance with Federal and State requirements Complete intake and eligibility determination and assess employment, abilities, and training needs Guide participants through the preparation of individual employment plans (IEP) based on their specific occupational goals Connect veterans with supportive services, training programs, and employment opportunities, including those with significant barriers to employment Build and maintain relationships with the Department of Veterans Affairs, Texas Veterans Commission, military installations, and veteran service organizations Coordinate with Disabled Veterans' Outreach Program (DVOP) and Local Veterans' Employment Representative (LVER) staff as appropriate Counsel participants on available job opportunities, training programs, and other services, and follow up on referrals Conduct orientation sessions, workshops, job clubs, and other group presentations Maintain accurate individual case files in WIT that meet compliance requirements Follow all policies, procedures, and regulations related to eligibility documentation Approach each day and task with a “ZAG” mindset Other duties and projects as needed This position is expected to be a HYBRID position. The selected candidate will be required to work onsite as well as remotely.  To Qualify for This Role, You Must Have: Bachelor's degree or higher or an equivalent combination of education and experience Knowledge of veterans' programs, priority of service requirements, and resources available to veterans Strong communication skills and knowledge about community resources Must be computer literate with MS Word and Excel skills at minimum, and the ability to learn specialized databases and software systems Ability to work in a variety of settings with a culturally diverse customer base with the ability to be culturally sensitive Ability to serve as a role model to customers and motivate them toward achieving goals Excellent interpersonal, time management, customer service, organizational, and communication skills, both oral and written Knowledgeable about the WIOA program and other workforce program requirements A Valid Driver's License Additional Skills/Knowledge Career Team Would Love for This Role: Veteran status or experience working directly with the veteran community Bilingual or multilingual Strong multitasking abilities and a proactive approach to tasks Training in Trauma Informed Care, evidence-based practice, and/or whole family services Salary: $48,000 - $52,000/yr Travel: As Needed   A
