Description
An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced VAT Manager to join a dynamic and growing advisory team. This role offers the chance to work on a wide range of VAT matters across multiple industries, taking ownership of client relationships and delivering high-quality advisory solutions.
The Role
As a VAT Manager, you will play a key part in leading client engagements, managing a diverse portfolio, and supporting senior colleagues on complex projects. This role is advisory-led, but will also involve occasional compliance oversight. Candidates will be expected to translate complex VAT technical issues into clear, practical advice for clients and internal stakeholders alike.
Key Responsibilities
• Managing a portfolio of VAT advisory projects across a variety of sectors.
• Providing practical solutions on property and not-for-profit (NFP) VAT matters, with wider exposure to corporate finance, media, recruitment, and international issues.
• Reviewing VAT returns and assumptions prepared by compliance specialists.
• Advising clients on VAT implications of contracts, transactions, and international services.
• Supporting clients during HMRC enquiries, disputes, and inspections.
• Taking ownership of smaller projects, managing deadlines, and working directly with clients.
• Working closely with other teams across the firm to handle internal referrals and cross-disciplinary projects.
• Contributing to marketing initiatives, VAT updates, and client events.
About You
We are seeking a proactive VAT professional with strong technical knowledge, excellent communication skills, and the ability to manage relationships at all levels. The successful candidate will have:
• Broad VAT advisory experience, ideally including property and/or not-for-profit sectors.
• Experience in handling HMRC queries and inspections.
• Confidence to manage client relationships independently.
• Commercial awareness and the ability to provide practical planning ideas.
• A collaborative mindset with the flexibility to manage multiple deadlines.
What's on Offer
• Exposure to a wide variety of VAT projects across multiple industries.
• The opportunity to work closely with experienced Directors and Partners.
• Career progression within a supportive and ambitious team.
• A blend of autonomy and collaboration, with real scope to make an impact.
