Duties/Responsibilities: • Perform Inspections and Repairs: Conduct thorough inspections of used cars to identify mechanical and electrical issues. • Perform necessary repairs and maintenance tasks to ensure vehicles are in optimal condition. • Test Drive Vehicles: After repairs, conduct test drives to verify that issues have been resolved and that the vehicle operates correctly. • Maintain Equipment: Ensure that all tools and equipment are in good working order and follow safety protocols in the workshop. • Explain repair needs and costs to Used Car department, providing clear and honest assessments of vehicle conditions. • Document Repairs: Maintain accurate records of all repairs and services performed on vehicles, including parts used and labor hours. • Must read, interpret, and transcribe data in order to maintain accurate records. • Maintain inventory and order supplies as needed. • Maintain a clean, safe working environment. Required Skills/Abilities: • Understanding of automotive systems. • Ability to use the diagnostic equipment and tools including power tools. • Willingness to learn with hands-on training. • Ability to maintain a professional appearance. • Ability to provide friendly customer service. Education and Experience: • Automotive and engine repair experience or auto mechanic training preferred. • Working knowledge of state inspection guidelines, particularly those concerning emissions and safety, is advantageous. • High school diploma or equivalent preferred. • ASE certifications required. Physical Requirements: • May lift objects that weigh as much as 50 lbs. • Good hand-eye coordination. • Prolonged periods of standing. • Frequent reaching, bending, squatting, pulling and lifting.
