Description
Job Summary We are looking for an experienced Unix System Administrator with strong hands-on expertise in server provisioning, troubleshooting, OS administration, and server upgrade activities . The candidate should be capable of independently handling production server issues and supporting hosted applications without relying only on SOP/documentation. This role requires strong problem-solving ability and deep OS-level administration experience across Unix/Linux environments. Key Responsibilities Provision physical/virtual Unix/Linux servers (manual & automated) Install and configure operating systems Perform server build, deployment, and commissioning Troubleshoot OS-level issues independently Analyze application issues from server perspective Perform in-place and parallel server upgrades Manage server hardening and configuration Handle performance troubleshooting Troubleshoot boot issues, file system issues, service failures Monitor logs and system health Support production incidents and critical escalations Perform root cause analysis Work with application, database, and network teams Technical Skills Required Operating Systems Red Hat Enterprise Linux Oracle Solaris AIX Unix/Linux administration Server Administration Server provisioning OS installation Kickstart / automated build tools Filesystem management User/group administration Service management Troubleshooting Kernel / boot issue troubleshooting Performance analysis Disk / filesystem troubleshooting Process-level debugging Log analysis Scripting Shell scripting Automation basics Infrastructure Virtualization knowledge Network troubleshooting basics Application hosting support
