Volunteer Position – Sports Coaching Assistant About the Program Are you a high school student who loves sports, teamwork, and helping others? UFIT (University of Fitness Information and Technology) invites motivated students to join our Volunteer Sports Program — a hands-on opportunity to support school sports and physical education activities while developing real-world leadership and coaching skills. This volunteer role is ideal for those passionate about youth development, fitness, and community service. What You’ll Do As a Volunteer Sports Coaching Assistant, you will: • Support lead coaches during PE classes and after-school sports program • Help facilitate warm-ups, drills, and organized games for elementary and middle school students • Promote positive play, inclusion, and teamwork among students • Learn and practice basic sports instruction and behavior management strategies • Model enthusiasm, sportsmanship, and respect both on and off the field What We’re Looking For • Genuine interest in sports, fitness, or working with youth • Dependable, respectful, and eager to learn • Ability to take direction and work collaboratively with staff and peers • Strong communication and leadership potential • Available at least 2 days a week after school (flexible scheduling available) What You’ll Gain • Community service hours or school volunteer credit • Hands-on experience in sports coaching and youth leadership • Mentorship from experienced coaches and educators • Letter of recommendation upon successful completion • Valuable resume experience in education, athletics, and community engagement Requirements • Current high school junior or senior • Parental/guardian consent required • TB test and background check (school requirement) • Must attend UFIT’s orientation and training session Volunteer placements available at multiple Los Angeles school sites
