The Washington Commanders are seeking a motivated, detail-oriented Turf and Grounds Assistant to join our Grounds Department. In this role, you will play a vital part in preparing and maintaining the playing surface and surrounding grounds to ensure a first-class experience for athletes, fans, and event partners at Northwest Stadium. Duties & Responsibilities • Support field preparation and game-day execution for Commanders home games • Operate, inspect, and maintain a wide range of turf and groundskeeping equipment • Develop, implement, and monitor preventative maintenance programs for all equipment • Maintain and enhance landscaping across Northwest Stadium grounds • Perform painting, field layout, and turf management for various professional athletic surfaces • Assist in planning and execution of large-scale events, including concerts and international soccer matches Requirements • Associate degree from an accredited Sports Turf or related program • Flexibility to work extended hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed • Strong verbal and written communication skills • Ability to lift and carry a minimum of 50 pounds • Valid driver’s license required • Ability to work outdoors in varying and extreme weather conditions • Must be able to obtain a Maryland Pesticide/Herbicide Applicator License within 6 months of hire • Must be able to obtain a Maryland Fertilizer Applicator License within 6 months of hire We are an equal opportunity employer and all qualified applicants will receive consideration for employment without regard to race, color, religion, national origin, sex, sexual orientation, age, disability, gender identity, marital or veteran status, or any other protected class.
