Description
We're an independent charity supporting families with young children through difficult times.
As Treasurer, you will work closely with the Chair and fellow Trustees to ensure strong financial governance and informed decision-making.
Brief Overview:
• Maintain oversight of the charity’s financial position, including cashflow and reserves
• Support the development of budgets, forecasts and financial plans
• Ensure effective financial controls and compliance with regulatory requirements
• Present clear, accessible financial information to the Board
• Advise on financial risk and the long-term sustainability of the organisation
Alongside this, you will contribute fully as a Trustee, helping to shape our strategy, oversee governance, and ensure we continue delivering high-quality support to families.
About You
We are looking for someone who brings both financial expertise and a collaborative approach.
You will ideally have:
• Experience in finance, accounting, bookkeeping, or financial management
• The ability to interpret and communicate financial information clearly to non-specialists
• Strong strategic thinking and sound judgement
• A willingness to contribute to discussions and challenge constructively
• A commitment to supporting families and children in our community
Experience in the charity sector or previous trustee experience is welcome but not essential.
Time Commitment
• Minimum 8 – 10 hours per month
• Trustee meetings held around every 6 weeks (with a preference for some in-person attendance in Guildford)
• Additional ad hoc support depending on your level of involvement
