Description
The Client
One of the UK’s largest privately-owned construction and building-products distribution groups — a portfolio of specialist businesses operating at national scale. The part of the business you’d join supplies bathroom and washroom products across multiple channels, with its own controlled ranges and the availability to deliver on what its salespeople promise. It’s a serious operation that doesn’t behave like a corporate one.
The Role
You take on a live book of accounts that already trade with the business — retail showrooms, merchants and wholesalers, housebuilders and contract customers. This isn’t cold prospecting. It’s about keeping momentum, making the business impossible to replace, and steadily increasing what every customer spends. You run Bristol, South Wales and the Midlands as your own territory, with the autonomy to decide where your time is best spent.
The Candidate
You’ve sold on the road and you know that the relationship is the product. You’re the kind of rep customers ring first. You don’t need a manager checking your diary, but you make the most of support when it’s there. KBB, building products, plumbing and heating, merchant or trade-distribution experience transfers naturally — though it’s how you build and hold customers that matters most.
The Reward
£45,000 basic, a performance-related bonus and a company car. A light-touch culture that trusts you to run your patch. And, because this sits inside a large national group of businesses, a genuine route to progress — across the group as well as upwards.
