Slic Network Solutions - Telecommunications Lineman (Entry Level) Telecommunications Lineman (Entry Level) Slic Network Solutions Telecommunications Lineman (Entry Level) Various across NY State Description SLICFiber is seeking a motivated and dependable Entry-Level Telecommunications Lineman to join our growing team in Upstate New York. This position plays a critical role in the construction, installation, and maintenance of SLICFiber’s Fiber to the Home (FTTH) network. The ideal candidate is safety-focused, eager to learn, and interested in building a long-term career in the telecommunications and fiber optics industry. This is an entry-level role with on-the-job training provided. Key Responsibilities • Assist in the construction, installation, and maintenance of aerial and underground fiber optic facilities for Fiber to the Home (FTTH) networks • Perform work on utility poles, strand, and related hardware under the direction of experienced linemen • Assist with fiber placement, lashing, splicing preparation, and basic testing • Safely operate hand tools, power tools, and construction equipment used in fiber installation • Follow all OSHA, company, and site-specific safety procedures at all times • Read and interpret basic construction prints, maps, and work orders • Work outdoors in varying weather conditions and terrain throughout Upstate New York • Maintain company vehicles, tools, and equipment in clean and working condition • Interact professionally with team members, supervisors, and customers when required • Participate in training programs to develop fiber, safety, and lineman skills • Some overtime, weekend, or Holiday work may be required, as well as “on Call”. Requirements • Entry-level position: prior telecommunications or construction experience is a plus but not required • Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record required • CDL preferred but not required • Ability to work at heights and climb poles while wearing appropriate safety equipment • Ability to lift, carry, push, and pull up to 50 lbs. • Ability to work in confined spaces • Willingness to work outdoors year-round in all weather conditions • Basic mechanical aptitude and willingness to learn new skills • Strong work ethic, reliability, and attention to safety
