Description
We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Welding Technician to join our dynamic Engineering Department at Coleg Sir Gâr and Coleg Ceredigion. This role is essential for ensuring the smooth and safe operation of our welding workshops at the Graig Campus. This position plays a crucial role in providing high-quality technical assistance to students and academic staff during practical teaching sessions. You will have primary responsibility for workshop housekeeping, health and safety compliance, and the maintenance of specialist equipment, including MIG, TIG, MMA, and oxy-acetylene tools. Working closely with the Head of Curriculum, course leaders, and lecturing staff, you will support communication and ensure that all workshop-based activities are delivered effectively and safely. Your work will help maintain a clean, organised learning environment where statutory health and safety processes—such as Risk Assessments and COSHH records—are followed meticulously. The role sits within the Engineering Department and involves a wide range of technical duties, from metal preparation using guillotines and plasma cutters to managing stores inventory and ordering consumables. As part of our collaborative technical team, you will contribute to a positive, inclusive learning environment and uphold the College’s commitment to excellence and professionalism. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with recent and relevant technical experience in welding who is highly organised, safety-conscious, and committed to providing outstanding support within an educational setting.
