Huawei Digital Power is committed to integrate Digital and Power Electronics technologies to provide customers with high-quality, energy-efficient, green, and low-carbon power electronics products, facilitating their business success The Power Conversion Technology Laboratory within Huawei’s Ohms Research Center in Nuremberg is responsible for Advanced Digital Power Technology Research, Architecture Evolution Design and Strategic Technology Planning, and plays an important role in the Huawei Digital Power business in the design and development of power converters and control systems for applications such as PV Solar & Battery Energy Storage Field, Data Centers, Electric Vehicle, and Embedded Power Supply. Join us as an Technical Expert - System Architecture for Large-Scale PV & BESS (m/f/d) to contribute to the research and development of next-generation large-scale PV and battery energy storage systems at Huawei Power Conversion Technology Laboratory. The position focuses on system architecture, PV-storage coupling, medium-voltage transformer stations and system cost optimization. Your mission · You will lead architecture studies for next-generation large-scale PV and BESS systems, covering string and centralized inverter solutions, Hybrid plants and various large-scale implementations. · You will develop decoupled PV and BESS architectures using dedicated PV inverters and battery PCS, and define the optimal coupling approach at DC, LVAC or MVAC level. · You will define integrated solutions for PV inverters, PCS, transformers, MV switchgear, battery systems and PPC/EMS. · You will formulate key requirements for inverter-transformer and PCS-transformer stations, including voltage, power rating, impedance, losses, cooling, protection and interfaces. · You will drive system cost reduction through architecture simplification, equipment consolidation, optimized power-block sizing and reduced transformer and MV station costs. · You will evaluate technical trade-offs among efficiency, cost, availability, scalability, grid compliance and operational flexibility. · You will collaborate with internal teams, universities and industry partners to validate new system concepts and generate intellectual property Your areas of expertise : · You hold a PhD or Master’s degree in electrical engineering, power electronics, power systems or a related discipline. · You have proven industrial experience in large-scale PV, BESS or hybrid power plant system design. · You are familiar with string and centralized inverter architectures and centralized and distributed PCS solutions. · You have practical experience with MV transformer stations and integrated inverter/PCS-transformer solutions. · You understand transformer selection and cost drivers, including power rating, voltage level, winding configuration, impedance, losses, cooling and integration with MV switchgear. · You have experience in system-level cost optimization and can translate architecture decisions into subsystem requirements. · Experience with PV-storage coupling, PPC/EMS, grid-forming storage and system modelling is highly desirable.
