Software Engineering Intern – Internal Tools & Automation Internship period: January – May 2026  or  August – December 2026 Duration:  4–6 months Preferably  full-time (5 days/week) ; limited flexibility may be considered About the Role We are looking for a  motivated Software Engineering Intern  to join a  business-critical engineering team  responsible for building and maintaining  internal tools, automation platforms, and workflow systems  used daily across Agoda. This role focuses on  solving real-world operational problems , improving engineering productivity, and automating business processes that directly impact how teams work at scale. While the team leverages modern technologies—including AI where it makes sense—the primary focus is on  robust software engineering, system integration, and practical problem-solving  within a production environment. As an intern, you will work closely with experienced engineers on real deliverables that ship to internal users, not side projects or prototypes.What You’ll Do Design, build, and enhance  internal tools and services  used by engineers and business teams. Work on  automation of real business workflows , such as document generation, data processing, and operational tooling. Contribute to backend and frontend components of internal systems. Collaborate with senior engineers on system design, implementation, and improvements. Write  clean, maintainable, production-quality code . Work with databases and write SQL queries to support application functionality. Participate in code reviews, team discussions, and knowledge-sharing sessions. Gain exposure to how large-scale systems operate in a real production environment. Technologies You May Work With Depending on the project, you may work with: Backend:  Java, Scala, Kotlin, Python Frontend:  JavaScript, React Databases:  SQL and NO-SQL Tooling:  Internal platforms, APIs, automation frameworks AI/Automation :  Using AI-powered tools where they meaningfully improve workflows What We’re Looking For Strong understanding of  core computer science fundamentals . Proficiency in  at least one  of the following:   Java, Scala, Kotlin, Python, JavaScript Familiarity with databases and ability to write SQL queries. Ability to reason about real-world problems and translate them into software solutions. Good written and verbal English communication skills. Curiosity, ownership, and a desire to learn from real production systems. Exposure to AI/ML concepts or tools is a  plus , but  not required .
