Reference: BIOPOLIS 2022-73 Job description: System/Network administrator Reference: BIOPOLIS 2022-73 Main research field: Computer Science 1. We are seeking to recruit an enthusiastic system/network administrator (Reference BIOPOLIS 2022-73) ideally with virtualization skills, to manage CIBIO/InBIO’s internal IT infrastructure and HPC cluster within the project "UIDB/50027/2020”, financed by national funds through FCT/MCTES. The candidate, as a Systems/Network Administrator will play a key role in managing, maintaining and upgrading the software, hardware and network systems of the IT infrastructure. The main goal is to ensure that all the components of the IT infrastructure are running efficiently. We offer integration in an international working environment, technical training and career development. 2. Applicable Legislation: Portuguese Labour Code, approved by Law 7/2009 of February 12, in its actual form. 3. The selection panel will be formed by: Pedro Beja (Associate Director of Biopolis), Albano Beja-Pereira (IP) and António Múrias (PhD). 4. The work will be primarily conducted at CIBIO-InBIO, UP – Centro de Investigação em Biodiversidade e Recursos Genéticos, Universidade do Porto, located at Campus de Vairão, Vila do Conde. Visits to other collaborating labs may take place. 5. We offer a competitive salary commensurate with experience. 6. Application can be submitted by candidates of any nationality holding a degree (BSc) or masters (MSc) in Computer Science or equivalent areas, although not required, will also be valued. 7. Skills and competencies: 7.1 Essential: • Demonstrable skills in network and system administration; • Experience of antivirus and threat management software installation, configuration and management; • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills; • Detail oriented; • Excellent time-management and planning skills; • Good communication skills. 7.2 Desirable: • Demonstrable deployment and operation of a virtual infrastructure; • OpenStack or other cloud layer implementation and administration; • Knowledge of managing and maintaining DELL/EMC storage; • Experience with Windows Server Network Infrastructure; • Knowledge of UNIX/Linux networking security; • Experience in scripting languages (e.g., Shell, Python); • Experience with Docker, Kubernetes; • Monitoring and System Management Tools; • Automation and Orchestration Tools (Terraform, Ansible). 8. Selection criteria: In a first stage, candidates will be ranked based on: • Professional experience (50%) • The relevance of academic degree(s) and/or other professional training(s) (20%) • Motivation letter (30%) On a second stage the 8 top-most ranked candidates (with more than 50% at the curricular evaluation) will be selected for an interview. The final rank will be calculated by the weighted average of the interview (40%) and the original ranked mark (60%). The interview will focus on the motivation of the candidate and his/her knowledge on the subject of this call. It may also include a technical discussion and/or technical questions. The jury will not choose any of the candidates if they all fail to demonstrate their fit to the position. 9. Candidate final classification shall be given based on a scale 0 to 100. 10. The jury may decide to select candidates to an interview (in person or by videoconference) to establish the final ranking if the difference between the classification of the top two candidates is less than 10 points (based on the criteria in 7). The jury may not award the position if the profile of the candidates does not meet the requirements of the project. 11. Results announcement: The ranking of applications will be published at a visible and public area of CIBIO facilities, and all candidates will be informed by email about the result of their application. After notification, all candidates have 10 working days to comment.
