He loves travelling in the car and meeting new people. Advertised on behalf of a family: A mother of a 14-year-old boy with autism is looking for a friendly, reliable Personal Assistant (PA) to support her son. There are 4hrs per week available, further details of days/times can be discussed directly with the employer. About him: He’s a lively and sociable young man who attends George Hastwell School. He’s passionate about cars and a huge Manchester United fan — he loves to chat about football! He enjoys drawing, playing on his PlayStation, and taking part in Boxabilty boxing sessions on Tuesdays. He’s a big lad with a healthy appetite and enjoys trying all kinds of food. When out and about, he loves travelling in the car and meeting new people. His speech is good, though sometimes he needs a little patience and encouragement if he gets stuck on his words. You’ll just need to remind him about toilet trips before going out. He’s an affectionate, fun young man who thrives with supportive, understanding people around him. About the role: • Supporting him to go out and enjoy activities in the community • Engaging him in his interests, especially football and cars • Encouraging independence and communication • Providing reassurance and positive interaction Ideal person: • Friendly, patient, and good at building rapport • Reliable and understanding of autism • A driver with access to a car would be ideal If you’re kind, enthusiastic, and enjoy making a difference — this could be a rewarding role for you.
