Announcement number DOJ-EOIR-13027896-26-WS Control number 879479500 This job is open to Help The public U.S. Citizens, Nionals or those who owe allegiance to the U.S. Duties Help The Board of Immigrion Appeals (BIA) is seeking Supervisory Attorney Advisors to manage teams of torney advisors, judicial law clerks, paralegal specialists, and/or other professional support staff in the review of extremely complex legal questions and the drafting of proposed orders with recommendions for disposition regarding a range of issues involving foreign and domestic areas of immigrion law for which the Board will vote on accepting as a final order. The major duties include: Directs a team th reviews cases under 8 C.F.R. §1003.1(d)(3), applying "de novo" review to legal, discretionary, and judgment issues, and "clear error" review to factual findings and credibility determinions. Monitors and examines formal filings for legal sufficiency and reviews submissions from party representives to ensure procedural requirements are met. Reviews research conducted by team to determine if evidence was adeque to sustain administrive findings of fact, and to determine whether proper administrive discretion was exercised. Provides direction in the evaluion of facts and evidence to interpret and apply stutes and regulions in en banc mters, precedent decisions, or unusually complex cases. Provides advice and counseling to employees on work and administrive mters. Prepares memoranda summarizing the facts of cases under review, and proposed orders for review by appelle Immigrion Judges to vote on accepting as a final order. Requirements Help Conditions of employment You must be a U.S. Citizen or Nional. You must complete a background investigion, credit check, and drug test. Selective Service Registrion is required, as applicable. A two year trial period may be required. Salary payments must be by direct deposit to a financial institution. A Supervisory Probionary Period may be required. Qualificions In order to qualify for the Supervisory Attorney Advisor position, you must meet the following minimum qualificions: Required Experience: For GS-15: Must possess a J.D. Degree Must be an active member of the bar (any U.S. jurisdiction). Must have least 4 full years post-J.D. legal (or equivalent), or other relevant experience.
