Position Overview The Summer Camp Director is responsible for the overall day-to-day operation of camp and serves as the on-site leader throughout the summer season. This role requires a hands-on, dependable individual who can take ownership of camp operations while fostering a positive, calm, and family-oriented environment for campers and staff. While leadership will provide programming support and guidance, the Camp Director will be the primary decision-maker on site and accountable for ensuring camp runs smoothly, responsibly, and safely. Key Responsibilities Recruit, hire, onboard, and supervise camp counselors and support staff Provide daily leadership and oversight of all camp operations Serve as the primary on-site point of contact for staff, campers, and families Address and resolve issues as they arise with sound judgment and professionalism Communicate clearly and consistently with leadership regarding camp operations, staffing, and concerns Ensure a safe, structured, and supportive environment for all campers Set and maintain a respectful, family-oriented tone for staff and campers Support individuals with special needs, including managing behaviors in a compassionate and appropriate manner Qualifications and Skills Strong leadership, organization, and decision-making abilities Comfortable supervising staff, providing direction, and holding team members accountable Proactive, responsible, and able to work independently Calm under pressure and adaptable when plans change Excellent communication skills and strong follow-through Prior experience working with individuals with special needs required Previous camp leadership or staff management experience strongly preferred Additional Information This is a summer-only position; however, the hiring process will begin well in advance to ensure the right fit and allow for thoughtful preparation. Housing and meals are provided for the duration of camp.
