A great place to work
We’re dedicated to giving our nurses the extra time it takes to understand the small things that make the biggest difference to our patients.

We give something back
Giving the time you need to develop your skills to deliver truly personalised care. This can include supporting nursing assistants to qualify as registered nurses, or supporting nurses to develop specialist or advanced knowledge in a particular area.
We think it’s only right that you’re paid to reflect unsocial working hours, so we pay time +30% between 8pm and 6am on weeknights and weekends, and time +60% on bank holidays .
We’re invested in your development
Practice educators lead an engaging and challenging education programme at each of our healthcare locations and we facilitate the RCN leadership course and other accredited training courses.
Our staff have a clear skills development framework in place so all of our nurses and nursing assistants have completed or are studying courses that are relevant to the areas in which they work. For example, pain and symptom management, psychological support, managing challenging behaviour, and supporting people to get the most out of life despite disabilities and difficulties.
We are committed to supporting you
We are committed to supporting you with your NMC revalidation and have purchased the fully NMC-compliant Royal College of Nursing e-portfolio to help you store and manage your CPD evidence, practice hours, reflective accounts and service user feedback easily. Access is completely free for all nursing staff who work solely for Sue Ryder, including permanent staff and bank staff where we, Sue Ryder, are the only employer.
We don’t limit your potential
Many of our staff nurses use the skills they develop with us to become clinical nurse specialists, take on managerial roles or even end up as our hospice or centre directors. We’d love to hear from you if you are interested in working for us as a nurse or healthcare assistant.
