Description In the substitute teacher role, you will assume responsibility for a class and perform all the tasks of the absent teacher, such as keeping students in order, conducting quizzes, and giving homework. You are expected to have a flexible schedule to accommodate sudden teacher absences. Success in this role will be demonstrated by providing excellent instructional and classroom management service throughout the absence of the full-time teacher. Education and Experience: • Preferred: Bachelor’s degree in Education or any related field; • Compliance with Safe Environment requirements (after being hired); • Relevant classroom experience preferred; • Passion for teaching and strong leadership capabilities; • Outstanding communication skills and excellent classroom management skills; • Must pass criminal background search and drug screening. Requirements Job Duties and Responsibilities : The duties of the Catholic School Substitute Teacher will include but are not limited to: • Teach and act in accordance with doctrinal and moral teachings of the Catholic Church; • Know, teach, and act consistently in accordance with the mission, philosophy, objectives, policies, and procedures of Blessed Sacrament Catholic school; • File reports, and assign and check homework; • Maintain a safe, orderly, and secure learning and work environment; • Review and implement lesson plans; • Mentor and engage students; • Give clear instructions and help students understand the lesson; • Maintain discipline and orderly control of the classroom; • Foster a safe and nurturing learning atmosphere; • Records and grades quizzes, homework, projects, and exams • Observe and follow school policies; • Follow established procedures to ensure the safety and welfare of students; • Perform teaching duties and all other duties as assigned by the school principal. Other Requirements: • Be a fully initiated Catholic in the communion of the Catholic Church and intentionally living out the five precepts of the Church (CCC 2041-2043); • Refrain from promotion or approval of, or the living out of, any conduct or lifestyle that would reflect discredit or disgrace on, or cause scandal in relationship to, the Archdiocese of Denver, or considered to be in contradiction with Catholic doctrine or morals; • Experience working with children; • Requires lifting up to 40 pounds and carrying up to 40 pounds; • Going up and down multiple flights of stairs daily; To apply : Please email your résumé and a list of references to Sara Alkayali at [email protected] .
