Position Title: Student Employee, Math Department Job Description: Assist the Math Department Secretary with a variety of tasks to promote and enhance student learning. Tasks include keeping classrooms stocked, organizing materials for instructors, and assisting with day-to-day operations. POSITION TITLE: Student Employee, Math Department STATUS: Part time DEPARTMENT: Math Department DIVISION: Academic Affairs REPORTS TO: Math Department Secretary CLASSIFICATION: Non-exempt MINIMIUM PAY RATE : $15.00 per hour (Position is FWS Eligible) ESSENTIAL   JOB   DUTIES   AND   KEY   RESPONSIBILITIES 1.Survey math classrooms on a weekly basis and stocking them as needed. 2. Photocopying. 3. Answering multiple phone lines, forward messages. 4. Directing visitors. 5. Proofreading exams and other course materials. 6. Distributing mail to approximately 40 professors, adjunct faculty and staff. 7. Maintaining text and supply inventories. 8.Special projects including the I.C.T.M. Regional and   JJC   Invitational math contests. 9. Distribution of developmental final exams. MINIMUM   QUALIFICATIONS 1. Must be enrolled at JJC in at least 6 credit hours in fall/spring semester. 2. Maintain GPA of 2.0 or higher. 3. Ability to communicate effectively. 4. Ability to work independently with minimal supervision. 5. Ability to type and proofread well. 6. Problem-solving abilities, discretion, and a willingness to accept responsibility. 7. Ability to establish and maintain cooperative and effective working relationships with other members of the college and community, displaying cultural competence as well as emotional intelligence. PREFERRED   QUALIFICATIONS 1. Knowledge of MS Office. 2. Self-starter who can organize daily workload effectively. 3. English and Spanish verbal and written communication proficiency. 4. Demonstrated multicultural competence. PHYSICAL   DEMANDS • Normal office physical demands. WORKING   CONDITIONS • Duties are performed indoors in the usual office environment. Scheduled Weekly Hours: This is a student employee position that works around your class schedule. May work up to 20 hours per week during the fall and spring semesters. During summer and holiday breaks (Winter/Spring), may work up to 28 hours per week with supervisor approval. Full Time/Part Time: Part time Union (If Applicable): Scheduled Hours: 20
