Description
Location Stuttgart / remote Your mission Your Mission At Conceptboard, we’re building a collaboration product that enterprise customers, public institutions, and safety-critical organizations rely on every day. To ensure the teams developing this product can deliver at full speed at all times, they need a platform that gets out of their way - not one that slows them down. As a Platform Architect / Staff Engineer, you’ll own the Core Platform Architecture—and you’ll build it yourself, hands-on. Your number one design constraint: The platform is never the bottleneck. You think in terms of self-service capabilities, clean contracts, and clear boundaries - and you’ll make the Platform Team the beacon of agentic engineering for the entire organization. This is no ivory-tower role: You set the direction by shipping it. Your Responsibilities • Own the target architecture. You’ll define, validate, and develop the architecture of the Core Platform—including the make-or-break decisions behind it. You’ll be the primary point of contact for architecture ownership at the platform level, thereby relieving a single person of their existing architecture responsibilities. • Hands-on development. You’ll lead and personally contribute to the proof-of-concept that validates critical hypotheses - and subsequently to the platform services themselves. You’re a builder, not just a designer. • Platform as a Product. You’ll design services as self-service capabilities that keep module teams unblocked. The thinnest viable platform beats gold-plating, always. • Establish and protect contracts and standards. You define and enforce the contracts between the platform and module teams: APIs, boundaries, non-functional requirements - and ensure they are adhered to. • Agentic-First from day one. You establish disciplined Agentic engineering practices within the platform team and make it a benchmark for the entire engineering organization. • Lead by Example. You inspire your team with a “Platform-First” mindset. Your team members grow because they watch you - and because you live by the standards you set. • Alignment with the Architect. You work closely with the existing Architect to coordinate and validate cross-functional architectural decisions. Your profile Must-haves • Hands-on builder with a strong track record. You’ve designed and built platforms or services at scale - and you still code. No “Architecture-by-PowerPoint” background. • Platform-as-a-Product instinct. You’ve built self-service platforms that have made other teams faster. You know how platforms can become bottlenecks - and you actively design around them. You treat internal teams as real customers. • Sound engineering practices. Testing, contracts, observability, CI/CD, clear boundaries - and the judgment to know which non-functional requirements actually matter. • Genuine motivation for agentic engineering. You want to build Agentic-First with discipline, not hype - and you want to set an example for others. Strongly preferred • Experience in regulated environments with high compliance requirements. • Relevant domain expertise for a collaboration platform, e.g., distributed systems or real-time architecture. • Experience with Agentic-First workflows - whether personal or professional.
