Description
Lightmatter is building next-generation photonic AI processors and interconnects using 3D-stacked photonics technology. In this Staff role, you will develop and extend the device software and firmware stack for photonic compute and interconnect products, collaborating with hardware systems teams to implement security, telemetry, virtualization, and remote administration capabilities. What You'll Do • Collaborate across multidisciplinary teams to define control plane architecture for photonic interconnect products • Define diagnostics and monitoring architecture for photonic transceivers • Integrate with data center administration capabilities using CMIS, OpenBMC, and DMTF environments • Debug and troubleshoot embedded systems using GDB, JTAG, and logic analyzers • Participate in customer engagements to gather requirements and usability criteria What You Need • BS degree with 8+ years of experience, or MS degree with 6+ years of experience in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Robotics, or related technical field • Industry experience with device driver and kernel development • Strong understanding of hardware-software integration • Practical knowledge of communication and control in embedded systems, peripherals, and buses • Commercial/enterprise-level software and firmware development experience on Linux • Git and CMake proficiency for building and managing software projects • Hands-on experience designing, simulating, or deploying control of autonomous systems Nice to Have • Proficiency with Python or C++ • Familiarity with debugging tools such as GDB, JTAG, and logic analyzers • Experience developing firmware for photonic transceivers or similar systems • Experience with CMIS, OpenBMC, and DMTF environments • Knowledge of optical communication systems and technologies $191,000–$215,000 USD base salary, plus new hire equity grant, annual performance-based equity, comprehensive health care (medical, dental, vision), retirement savings matching, life insurance, generous time off, paid family leave, disability coverage, training and development, commuter benefits, and equity grants for full-time employees
