Position Narrative Position Title: Staff Accountant I, II, or III Department: Finance Location: Utulei, American Samoa Reports To: Controller, Chief Financial Officer (CFO), or Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Position Summary The Staff Accountant plays a key role in supporting the Bank’s financial management and reporting functions. This position is responsible for ensuring the accuracy, completeness, and integrity of financial data, while contributing to the Bank’s overall fiscal health and compliance with applicable regulations. Primary Responsibilities • Prepare, analyze, and reconcile general ledger accounts and financial statements. • Perform journal entries, bank reconciliations, and monthly closing activities. • Assist in the preparation of annual budgets, cost analyses, and variance reports. • Support the development and maintenance of internal accounting controls and procedures. • Prepare tax filings, audit schedules, and regulatory reports in coordination with management. • Provide financial insight and recommendations based on data analysis and trends. • Collaborate with multiple departments to ensure data accuracy and compliance with established standards. • Assist in internal and external audit activities and maintain audit-ready documentation. • Contribute to the achievement of departmental and organizational Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) through timely, accurate reporting and proactive process improvement. Qualifications and Skills • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field (CPA preferred or in progress) • Strong understanding of GAAP, financial reporting, and internal controls. • Proficiency with accounting software and Microsoft Excel. • High attention to detail, accuracy, and analytical ability. • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. • Ability to handle confidential information with integrity and professionalism.
