Full-Time | Remote | Starting at $85,000/year We are hiring a Staff Accountant to support the VTP corporate accounting function. This is a full-cycle role with real responsibility from day one. You will work directly with the Controller across all portfolio entities, handling month-end and year-end close, payroll journal entry posting, AR/AP, bank reconciliations, sales tax filings and financial reporting. This is a position that requires a strong accounting background and self-sufficient, detail oriented and goal focused. Note: We strongly prefer candidates with experience in the home service industry , including plumbing, electrical, HVAC, or roofing. I mmediate interviews will be scheduled for qualified candidates with home service industry experience. Our goal is to prioritize applicants who can hit the ground running. RESPONSIBILITIES • Own full-cycle accounting across assigned portfolio entities including month-end and year-end close. • Post weekly payroll journal entries to the GL from ADP payroll reports across multiple entities. • Process and manage accounts payable and accounts receivable. • Perform bank reconciliations and maintain clean, accurate account balances. • Prepare and file multi-state sales tax returns on time. • Assist with financial statement preparation and budget-to-actual reporting for ownership review. • Support acquisition onboarding by assisting with books cleanup and integration into the accounting structure. • Follow SOPs for accounting processes as the portfolio grows. • Internal operations teams as needed. • Assist with ad hoc reporting, analysis and special projects assigned by the Controller. QUALIFICATIONS • Experience in the home service industry, including plumbing, electrical, HVAC, or roofing • 2+ years of full-charge or full-cycle accounting experience (multi-entity experience preferred). • Strong working knowledge of QuickBooks Online and/or QuickBooks Desktop. • Hands-on experience with ADP payroll journal entry posting. • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel. • Experience with multi-state sales tax compliance. • Ability to manage multiple entities and competing deadlines without losing detail. • Clear, direct communicator who can work independently in a remote environment. • Experience with ServiceTitan, Melio, Bill.com is a plus but not required.
