Position Summary
The Senior Service Technician is responsible for diagnosing, troubleshooting, and repairing complex vehicle concerns while ensuring the highest standards of safety, quality, and customer satisfaction. This role serves as the technical expert within the workshop, providing mentorship to technicians, supporting escalated repairs, and driving operational excellence. The position requires advanced diagnostic capabilities, strong EV and automotive systems knowledge, and the ability to lead complex technical investigations.
Key Responsibilities
Technical Operations
Perform advanced diagnostics, troubleshooting, and repair of electrical, mechanical, and vehicle control systems.
Lead the resolution of complex and repeat repair concerns.
Conduct inspections and identify root causes using diagnostic tools and equipment.
Perform repairs in accordance with manufacturer standards and workshop procedures.
Support vehicle software updates, calibration, and verification activities.
Ensure repairs are completed within targeted turnaround times while maintaining quality standards.
Leadership & Mentoring
Provide technical guidance and coaching to Service Technicians.
Support technician development through hands-on training and knowledge sharing.
Lead critical repair activities and coordinate resources during major technical issues.
Act as a technical escalation point for workshop management.
Quality, Safety & Continuous Improvement
Ensure compliance with all safety requirements, workshop procedures, and quality standards.
Conduct root cause analysis and implement corrective and preventive actions.
Support continuous improvement initiatives to increase productivity and repair quality.
Maintain accurate service documentation and repair records.
Customer & Team Collaboration
Support service advisors and management with technical explanations when required.
Collaborate with engineering, field service, and technical support teams on complex cases.
Participate in technical meetings, training sessions, and service campaigns.
Qualifications
Education
Diploma or Associate Degree in Automotive Technology, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related field.
Manufacturer certifications and EV certifications preferred.
Experience
Minimum 10 years of automotive service experience.
Experience handling advanced diagnostics and complex repair activities.
Experience mentoring junior technicians.
Technical Skills
Advanced knowledge of automotive electrical, electronic, and mechanical systems.
Proficiency with diagnostic software and specialized service tools.
Ability to interpret technical manuals, wiring diagrams, and repair procedures.
Strong troubleshooting and root-cause analysis skills.
