Description
AST SpaceMobile is building a global cellular broadband network in space for government and defense applications. This Senior Capabilities Developer role focuses on designing, developing, integrating, and deploying advanced software solutions for communications, spectrum awareness, signal analysis, and secure networking—bridging software engineering, systems integration, and DevOps across the full lifecycle from concept to operational deployment.
What You'll Do
• Design, develop, integrate, and deploy software capabilities supporting communications, spectrum awareness, signal analysis, and secure networking applications
• Build and maintain backend data processing pipelines, automated analytics workflows, and operator-facing applications
• Implement signal processing algorithms and data analysis workflows to support detection, classification, and geolocation activities
• Develop and maintain software applications interfacing with communications networks, data platforms, and operational infrastructure
• Manage software deployment environments, configuration control, version management, and CI/CD processes; support system integration, testing, and sustainment
• Design user interfaces, dashboards, and visualization tools; develop technical documentation and participate in technical reviews and architecture discussions
What You Need
• Bachelor's degree in computer science, software engineering, electrical engineering, communications engineering, or related technical discipline
• Minimum 5 years of experience in software development, systems integration, communications systems, or capabilities development
• Experience delivering software solutions across the full development lifecycle from requirements through deployment and sustainment
• Proficiency in Python, C/C++, or equivalent programming languages
• Proficiency in Linux-based development and deployment environments; version control systems (Git or equivalent); CI/CD and DevOps platforms; containerization technologies (Docker, Kubernetes, or equivalent)
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills; excellent written and verbal communication; ability to collaborate effectively across multidisciplinary teams
• Eligibility to obtain and maintain a U.S. government security clearance; U.S. citizenship may be required
Nice to Have
• Master's degree
• Experience supporting government, defense, aerospace, telecommunications, or other highly regulated industries
• Experience with communications systems, cellular technologies, wireless networking, spectrum management, LTE, 5G, or modern communications architectures
• Experience with signal processing techniques, data analytics, sensor data exploitation, geolocation, positioning, tracking, or situational awareness technologies
• Experience developing secure communications solutions, resilient network architectures, or working with RF data and spectrum monitoring systems
• Active Top Secret/SCI (TS/SCI) security clearance
