Description
Role Overview This role focuses on leading complex financial and corruption investigations across World Vision’s global operations, working autonomously to uncover fraud, bribery, kickbacks, and other misconduct. Day to day, you will plan and execute investigative strategies, interview witnesses and subjects, analyse financial records and digital evidence, and produce detailed reports for senior leadership. Your work directly protects donor funds and upholds the integrity of the organisation’s mission in challenging environments. Key Responsibilities • Initiate, plan, lead, and oversee investigations into fraud, corruption, embezzlement, conflict of interest, product substitution, and ethical misconduct, managing cases from intake to closure. • Produce clear, evidence-based investigative reports, including engagement memos, quarterly summaries, and PowerPoint briefings, and deliver oral presentations to senior management and stakeholders. • Apply a wide range of investigative techniques—such as reviewing financial documents, conducting surveillance, using data analytics and computer forensics, and conducting witness and subject interviews. • Coordinate investigative activities with colleagues across World Vision’s global, regional, and national offices, as well as with external partners including law enforcement, donors, NGOs, banks, and other entities. • Provide training and mentoring to staff and junior investigators on detecting and investigating misconduct, and help build investigator capacity within the region. • Identify fraud trends and recommend preventive measures to reduce risk; contribute to developing and updating investigation manuals and procedures. • Collaborate with internal teams and external stakeholders to align investigative goals with the organisation’s strategic objectives (e.g., WV 2030), and advocate for necessary changes to tools and processes. • Cultivate a Christ-centred approach within the investigative environment, ensuring that all actions reflect the organisation’s values while maintaining professional rigour. Requirements & Qualifications • Bachelor’s degree or higher in Accounting, Criminal Justice, Finance, or a closely related field. • 5–7 years of professional experience in investigation, auditing, law, or project management within international organisations. • Proven ability to conduct independent investigations with minimal supervision, including case initiation, planning, and reporting. • Certified Fraud Examiner (CFE) designation required; CPA, CIA, or CA certification strongly preferred. • Completion of a formal law enforcement investigation training programme. • Excellent analytical, research, and computer forensic skills, with the ability to synthesise complex evidence. • Strong written and verbal communication skills in English; knowledge of Portuguese or other local languages is an advantage. • Familiarity with World Vision’s business operations and systems is a plus. • Willingness to travel up to 40% both domestically and internationally, including to challenging or stressful environments. • Ability to maintain composure and sound judgment under pressure while working in diverse cultural contexts. What We Offer / Why Join You will join a globally respected faith-based organisation dedicated to serving vulnerable communities, with the opportunity to shape investigative practices across multiple regions. This role offers deep engagement with high-impact cases and collaboration with a network of professionals committed to transparency and accountability.
