Enovix is expanding its advanced silicon-anode lithium-ion battery manufacturing operations in Penang, Malaysia. We are building a strong local engineering team to support high-volume production ramp and long-term manufacturing excellence. We are seeking an experienced Staff Process Engineer to join our Advanced Manufacturing Engineering (AME) team and lead critical processes of industrialization and scale-up initiatives .
Job Summary:
As a Staff Process Engineer , within the Malaysia AME (Advanced Manufacturing Engineering) team and reporting to the Director based in Fremont, USA, you will provide technical leadership for the development, industrialization, scale-up, and long-term manufacturing strategy of critical production processes across Enovix's global manufacturing network. You will drive cross-site alignment between Malaysia, Korea, and USA teams while partnering with Equipment Engineering, Manufacturing, Quality, Product Engineering, and external suppliers to enable robust, scalable, and cost-effective production. This role requires deep expertise in mechanical engineering fundamentals, advanced process control methodologies, and demonstrated success leading complex manufacturing ramps and process programs in high-volume production environments.
Responsibilities:
Technical Leadership:
• Define manufacturing strategies and process roadmaps for key production technologies.
• Define manufacturing readiness metrics and production ramp strategies.
• Mentor and develop Senior Process Engineers.
Process Development & Scale-up:
• Drive production ramp readiness, including qualification builds, process window. validation, and process transfer from development through high-volume manufacturing.
• Establish process capability targets, qualification methodologies, and release criterias.
• Develop and govern process documentation including SOPs, control plans, specifications, and manufacturing standards.
Equipment Qualification & Scale-Up:
• Lead equipment design reviews, installation, FAT/SAT, buy-off, commissioning, and production release activities.
• Partner with equipment vendors and global engineering teams to ensure mechanical robustness and process capability.
• Identify equipment performance gaps and drive corrective actions to achieve manufacturing targets.
Yield, Quality & Continuous Improvement:
• Lead structured root-cause investigations for yield excursions and process variation.
• Drive yield improvement, scrap reduction, cycle time optimization, and cost-down initiatives.
• Lead risk assessments and mitigation plans for high-impact process issues.
Cross-Site Collaboration:
• Provide clear, direct, and data-driven communication across Manufacturing, Quality, Supply Chain, and Engineering teams.
• Drive alignment between development engineering and manufacturing organizations.
Qualifications:
• B.S. or M.S. or PhD in Mechanical Engineering, Materials Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or a related field.
• 10+ years of experience in advanced manufacturing environments.
• Deep expertise in:
• Mechanical systems and material interactions
• Statistical Process Control
• Manufacturing risk management
• Production ramp and equipment qualification
• Proven track record influencing technical decisions across organizations and sites.
• Strong leadership and communication skills with experience operating in global organizations.
Preferred
• Experience in battery manufacturing, roll-to-roll processes, or precision continuous manufacturing.
• Six Sigma certification (Black Belt or equivalent).
• Experience leading teams across multiple geographic locations.
