The Senior Communications Specialist for the Earth for Life (EFL) team at World Wildlife Fund will support Project Finance for Permanence (PFP) and special projects related to protected and conserved area boundaries. The role is key to coordinating multi-departmental and cross-country communications efforts, providing demand-driven communications support that aligns with long-term, large-scale area-based conservation priorities and showcases the benefits these initiatives generate for communities, climate, and biodiversity. Key responsibilities include coordinating and implementing communications activities for PFP initiatives under implementation and other Earth for Life special projects, ensuring collaboration with Development and Donor Communications, Marketing and Communications, Executive Communications, Program, Country Office, Enduring Earth, the WWF GEF Agency, the WWF GCF Agency, and other partners. The specialist prepares and implements short- and long-term communications work plans, collaborates on reporting requirements for each PFP in implementation by reviewing and developing donor materials and managing a comprehensive reporting calendar, coordinates with Enduring Earth partners on implementation lessons learned and best practices, and develops targeted communications and advocacy plans for special projects related to protected and conserved area boundaries. The role also supports consistent programme information management, messaging, and storytelling across WWF and partner teams, drafts, reviews, and edits written programme materials, fulfils communications requests from various departments, and contributes to a cohesive web presence and the team library of communications materials. Qualifications include a bachelor’s degree in communications, international studies, or another relevant subject ideally related to conservation, plus a minimum of six years’ programme or professional experience in communications, or an advanced degree with three or more years’ professional communications experience. Strong written and verbal communication skills are required, Spanish proficiency is preferred, and knowledge of area-based conservation, Indigenous peoples and local communities, sustainable development, and sustainable finance issues is preferred. Also sought are solutions-oriented critical thinking, strong relational skills, the ability to set priorities and manage many details simultaneously in a matrixed team environment, and proficiency with Microsoft Office software.
