At Tutor Me Education, we are revolutionizing the way students learn, and we're seeking passionate teachers and tutors with special education experience to provide 1:1 in-home tutoring in San Pedro, CA ! About the Role: As an Tutor at Tutor Me Education, you’ll provide personalized, one-on-one tutoring to students with special needs in their homes. You will be responsible for helping students with daily activities, offering moral support, and delivering tailored instruction based on their Individualized Education Plan (IEP). We are currently hiring for multiple positions across all cities in San Pedro, CA Details: In-Person Tutoring in San Pedro, CA Schedule: Flexible, 1x a week for 1hr per session Pay range is between $25 and $35 per hour Ideal Candidate: Teaching credential required Extensive experience working with students with Autism, Down Syndrome, ADHD, and complex communication needs Experience supporting nonverbal learners and implementing individualized communication strategies Proficient in ASL and/or experienced working with AAC (Augmentative and Alternative Communication) devices Strong background in functional academics, life skills instruction, and community-based learning Experience teaching foundational literacy and foundational math skills to students with significant support needs Skilled in supporting self-regulation, engagement, transitions, and social-emotional development Patient, calm, and flexible, with the ability to adapt instruction based on student needs and responses Comfortable providing hand-over-hand support and using visual, sensory, and hands-on teaching strategies Strong understanding of IEP implementation and individualized goal-based instruction Able to create engaging, meaningful learning opportunities that connect academics to real-world experiences Key Responsibilities: Provide individualized instruction focused on expanding communication skills through AAC usage and/or ASL Support expressive communication by helping the student communicate wants, needs, choices, and preferences Teach and reinforce foundational literacy skills through highly visual, interactive, and structured activities Support foundational math development through hands-on learning, repetition, and functional applications Incorporate functional academics and daily living skills, including shopping, public interactions, community navigation, and independence-building activities Utilize AAC devices, sign language, visual supports, and other communication systems to increase engagement and participation Support social-emotional learning by teaching self-regulation, flexibility, transitions, and emotional awareness Implement structured routines, frequent movement breaks, and positive reinforcement to maintain engagement and reduce frustration Adapt instruction to align with IEP goals and evolving communication objectives Incorporate the student's interests, including swimming, music, musical toys, clapping activities, and songs, to increase motivation and participation Create a supportive, low-pressure learning environment that encourages communication, confidence, and independence Collaborate with school staff and follow existing educational plans to ensure consistency across learning environments Why Tutor Me Education?
