Appian is a low-code platform company that automates business processes for large organizations. This Solution Engineer role (titled as Cloud Engineer - Shift 1) positions you as a first responder for the cloud platform on the night shift, triaging and resolving alerts from monitoring systems while providing technical support to customers. What You'll Do • Triage and resolve alerts generated by monitoring systems following established runbooks and procedures • Collaborate with engineers to troubleshoot, escalate, and resolve complex system and customer issues • Provide direct technical support to customers as needed • Diagnose root causes and solve complex technical problems through hands-on troubleshooting • Proactively improve system health by identifying alert trends, enhancing monitoring, and contributing code to increase reliability What You Need • Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience in a technical field • Hands-on technical background with strong troubleshooting skills • Foundational knowledge of networking (TCP/IP, DNS, HTTP, routing) • Familiarity with monitoring tools such as Datadog, Grafana, or Prometheus • Experience in a procedural environment such as Helpdesk or 1st Line Support with established runbooks and processes • Comfortable with Linux command line • Strong communication skills and ability to work effectively within a team and with customers • Ability and willingness to work a night shift schedule (5pm–2am EST or 1am–10am EST) Nice to Have • Foundational knowledge of databases (SQL, NoSQL) • Experience with scripting languages such as Python or Bash to automate tasks • Knowledge of container technologies like Docker and Kubernetes Base salary range $50,000–$125,000 USD. Discretionary bonus available.
