Solicitor – Housing Disrepair £56.89 per hour (Umbrella) | 6-Month Contract | Kings Cross | Hybrid (2 Days Office / 3 Days Home) Join one of the UK's leading housing providers, responsible for managing tens of thousands of homes and delivering high-quality housing services across London and the South East. With residents at the centre of every decision, this organisation is committed to improving homes, communities and customer outcomes. An opportunity has become available for an experienced Housing Disrepair Solicitor to join the in-house Legal team on an initial 6-month contract . The Role You'll act as the organisation's subject matter expert on housing disrepair, providing specialist legal advice, supporting legal caseworkers and operational teams, and ensuring disrepair claims are managed effectively, proportionately and in line with current legislation. Key Responsibilities • Provide expert legal advice on all housing disrepair matters. • Review claims, advising on liability, risk, quantum and settlement strategy. • Support legal caseworkers and housing teams with complex cases. • Instruct external solicitors and barristers where required. • Negotiate settlements and oversee litigation strategy. • Deliver training and guidance to internal teams. • Keep the business updated on changes to legislation and case law. • Promote best practice across housing disrepair case management. About You You'll be a qualified Solicitor or Barrister (England & Wales) with: • A current practising certificate. • Extensive knowledge of housing disrepair legislation and Pre-Action Protocols. • Proven experience managing housing disrepair claims. • Strong negotiation and litigation experience. • Previous experience advising on wider housing management matters including ASB, tenancy breaches, rent recovery and succession. • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
