Gender: Any Candidate Nationality: Any Job Type: Contract - Remote - work from home Role Context The Sociology Quality Assurance Lead will oversee the quality of social science content used to train and evaluate advanced artificial intelligence systems. The position requires careful review of sociological explanations, theory applications, research summaries, demographic interpretations, social policy discussions, and analytical responses involving complex social issues. The successful candidate will identify unsupported generalizations, stereotyping, weak causal claims, methodological errors, biased framing, inaccurate use of sociological concepts, and ethically problematic analysis. The role also includes contributor guidance, quality documentation, onboarding, calibration, and improvement of scalable review processes. Key Responsibilities * Review sociology-focused AI training items against detailed project rubrics and documented quality standards. * Evaluate sociological accuracy, theoretical relevance, methodological rigor, clarity, nuance, ethical awareness, and instruction compliance. * Assess content involving social institutions, inequality, stratification, race, ethnicity, gender, class, culture, deviance, organizations, and social change. * Review explanations of sociological theories and determine whether concepts are applied accurately to real-world examples. * Examine research summaries for appropriate interpretation of findings, methods, limitations, and social context. * Evaluate demographic analysis, social policy discussions, and claims involving communities or population groups. * Identify unsupported generalizations, stereotypes, stigmatizing language, false causal relationships, and oversimplified conclusions. * Flag inaccurate use of research terminology, weak evidence, biased assumptions, and misleading statistical interpretations. * Check whether qualitative and quantitative research findings are represented accurately and responsibly. * Spot-check work completed by trainers, researchers, reviewers, annotators, and quality assurance contributors. * Provide precise written feedback explaining identified issues and the changes required. * Escalate repeated, critical, or high-impact quality problems to project stakeholders. * Communicate new guidelines, workflow changes, quality expectations, and sociology-specific review standards through Discord. * Respond to contributor questions regarding sociological concepts, research methods, ethics, inequality, culture, bias, and rubric interpretation. * Contact inactive contributors, encourage participation, record follow-ups, and report availability concerns. * Create and maintain style guides, FAQs, trackers, quality notes, reference examples, honeypots, calibration tasks, and onboarding materials. * Conduct remote onboarding and training sessions for sociology trainers and reviewers. * Ensure contributors apply evolving sociology review requirements consistently. * Analyze recurring error patterns and recommend practical improvements to quality workflows. * Maintain organized records of reviews, feedback, contributor performance, and corrective actions. Ideal Profile * Bachelor 's, Master 's, or PhD degree in Sociology, Social Sciences, Social Research, Demography, Criminology, Gender Studies, Ethnic Studies, Public Policy, Anthropology, or a closely related field. * Minimum 3 years of experience in sociology research, teaching, social policy analysis, academic writing, community research, or social science review. * Strong English communication skills for interpreting project guidelines and delivering clear written feedback. * Thorough knowledge of sociological theory, social institutions, inequality, stratification, race, ethnicity, gender, class, culture, deviance, organizations, and social change. * Strong understanding of qualitative and quantitative research methods. * Ability to evaluate claims involving causation, correlation, representation, sampling, measurement, and research limitations. * Experience identifying stereotyping, biased framing, unsupported social claims, and ethically sensitive language. * Familiarity with survey research, interviews, ethnography, statistical analysis, social policy, urban sociology, family sociology, education, health disparities, work, organizations, or criminology is preferred. * Ability to assess content objectively against detailed rubrics and project standards. * Experience leading or supporting remote researchers, educators, analysts, reviewers, annotators, or QA teams is strongly preferred. * Excellent attention to detail and the ability to manage complex review workflows. * Confidence using Discord, Google Sheets, Google Docs, trackers, dashboards, and project management systems. * Experience developing calibration tasks, onboarding resources, style guides, and quality documentation. * Familiarity with AI training, data annotation, large language model evaluation, academic QA, or rubric-based review is advantageous. * Availability to complete an AI interview, a domain-specific task, and a recruiter interview.
