Description
dmg media is hiring a Social Video Editor on a freelance basis, based in London. This role sits within the Social Production team at DMG New Media, where the focus is short-form post-production workflow, turning studio rushes and presenter-led footage into publish-ready content for TikTok, Instagram Reels, and YouTube Shorts. It suits an editor with a solid grip on social video post-production who thrives on volume, variety, and tight turnarounds rather than long-form projects.
About the Role
You'll be embedded in a busy London newsroom, working alongside senior editors, producers, and creatives to deliver approximately 8 to 10 edits per week across recurring formats including explainers, straight-to-camera pieces, and Mail Talks. The work moves from raw studio footage through to fully subtitled, correctly formatted deliverables, often within the same day. This is a short-form social video production role with real volume, which means the workflow is consistent and the feedback loop is quick.
Key Responsibilities
• Edit presenter-led and explainer content from studio rushes through to final delivery, maintaining strong pacing and narrative structure throughout.
• Build clean, accurate, well-timed subtitles and on-screen text as a standard part of every edit.
• Produce correctly formatted cutdowns for TikTok, Instagram Reels, and YouTube Shorts, working within established platform specs.
• Work within brand templates and visual guidelines while applying genuine editorial judgement to opening moments and viewer retention.
• Manage your own edit queue against daily priorities set with producers, hitting same-day deadlines consistently.
• Keep project files, folder structures, and deliverables organised and clearly named throughout the post-production workflow.
What You Bring
• Strong working knowledge of Adobe Premiere Pro with a fast, organised approach to short-form social video editing.
• Demonstrable experience cutting content for TikTok, Reels, and Shorts, with a real understanding of what holds attention on each platform.
• Confidence handling subtitles, music, sound mixing, graphics, and basic visual effects as part of a standard edit.
• Experience working at volume in a newsroom or broadcast post-production environment.
• After Effects experience is an advantage, and openness to AI-assisted editing tools is welcomed.

The role offers real scope to develop more complex editing skills over time, with access to senior editorial talent and a structured production environment.
