POSITION OVERVIEW: SOCIAL MEDIA MANAGER (INSTAGRAM FOCUS)
We are looking for a prolific, talented, and high-agency Social Media Manager to take absolute ownership of NORY’s Instagram presence. What we do is incredibly fun—we help young children create robotic inventions that solve real-world problems. Project prototypes, thought-provoking classroom discussions, and children’s big, silly smiles provide endless content to share with the world.
In this role, you will act as the primary storyteller for our brand, capturing meaningful moments through video and imagery to articulate our key values and connect deeply with parents and teachers.
Position Details:
- Compensation: $20 – $40 per hour (dependent on experience and portfolio strength)
- Hours: 10–20 hours per week (offers flexibility to fit your schedule)
- Location: Remote (Candidates based in the NYC area who can periodically visit our campsites to capture live content during the camp season are highly preferred).
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Instagram Strategy & Growth: Develop, curate, and manage a structured, high-impact Instagram content calendar. Intentionally grow our followers and engagement metrics, focusing heavily on community impact rather than just vanity metrics.
- Video-First Content Creation (Primary Focus): Produce, shoot, and edit highly engaging Reels that capture both the emotional energy and the educational depth of our STEM programs. Optimize all short-form video content for reach, watch time, and retention.
- Visual & Written Storytelling: Write compelling, human-centric captions that connect our core values (resilience, inquisitiveness, empathy) to what parents care about most. Turn technical curriculum themes into accessible, weekly narratives.
- Basic Graphic Design: Design clean, simple, and brand-consistent static graphics or carousels when needed to support announcements or educational content.
- Performance Tracking & Analytics: Track weekly engagement metrics, saves, shares, and DM inquiries. Interpret data trends to continuously iterate and pivot our content strategy.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Proven Track Record: Demonstrated success managing and growing brand Instagram accounts, ideally within the parenting, education, pediatric, or family-focused spaces.
- Multimedia Production Skills: A strong portfolio showcasing expert-level short-form video editing (Reels/TikTok formatting), baseline graphic design, and punchy copywriting.
- Exceptional Communication: A personable, engaging, and empathetic storytelling style that easily translates organizational mission into community excitement.
- High-Agency & Entrepreneurial: A proactive self-starter who thrives in a fast-paced startup environment, takes feedback constructively, and treats data as a guide.
LIVE OUR VISION: OUR 'WAYS OF BEING'
We look for creators who don't just match a skill set, but who deeply resonate with our core culture. At NORY, our daily decisions are guided by our 'Ways of Being':
- Purpose-Driven: We are intentional in our actions, always leading with "why" to cultivate intrinsic motivation.
- Solution-Oriented: We challenge ourselves to figure out how to make something work before questioning if it is possible.
- Data-Informed: Our strategic choices and assessments are grounded in logic and empirical data.
- Accountable: We practice personal discipline and take full ownership of our
