Role Overview
This position involves daily transportation of fresh fish and related supplies between Victory Farms' distribution points across Kenya. Drivers are responsible for maintaining proper cold-chain conditions throughout every trip, ensuring perishable goods reach their destinations fresh and on time. The role requires hands-on involvement in loading and unloading processes, making it a vital link in the company’s supply chain where consistency, safety, and the ability to handle long-distance routes with irregular hours are key.
Key Responsibilities
• Conduct thorough vehicle inspections before and after each trip to ensure road safety and compliance with all operational standards.
• Report any mechanical faults, damage, accidents, or safety risks to supervisors immediately and coordinate timely repairs and maintenance.
• Maintain uninterrupted cold-chain conditions during transport by actively monitoring temperature controls and properly handling perishable products.
• Plan and adjust routes using approved navigation tools, such as Google Maps, to avoid delays and meet tight delivery windows.
• Keep the assigned vehicle clean, fully fuelled, and operationally ready at all times.
• Assist with the safe loading and unloading of goods, following correct handling procedures to prevent spoilage or damage.
• Complete all delivery paperwork accurately, including trip logs, fuel records, and inspection forms.
• Maintain regular communication with logistics and dispatch teams on trip progress, any delays, or incidents, and support emergency response procedures when needed.
Requirements & Qualifications
• Minimum high school diploma; a diploma or higher qualification is preferred.
• Valid driving licence: Class CE for long-haul roles or Class C for short-haul positions.
• At least three years of commercial or long-haul driving experience.
• Clean driving record and thorough knowledge of Kenyan road networks and traffic laws.
• Proficiency with navigation tools like Google Maps or comparable applications.
• Basic mechanical knowledge is a plus.
• Strong attention to detail in documentation and cargo handling.
• Willingness to drive long distances and work flexible hours, including nights and weekends as required.
