Summary/Objective: Reporting to the Director of Quality and/or their designee, the Shop Quality Inspector will perform inspections on all aspects of structural steel fabrication to   determine   conformance with specifications by reviewing structural steel and fabrication drawings and verifying welds are   in accordance with   AISC and AWS standards. Essential Duties (other duties may be assigned): • Perform dimensional inspection on members. • Visual inspection of tack and final welds. • Complete quality documentation such as digital inspection forms, nonconformance   tags   and nonconformance reports. • Coordinate inspection activities with production scheduling requirements. • Reconcile final inspection documentation for   completion of the sequence/project. • Interact with third party   inspector   as directed. • Request   3 rd   party NDE inspection. Education/Experience: • High School Diploma or GED   required. • Knowledgeable and skilled in   the use of measuring   tape and weld gauges. • Ability to read engineering drawings, specifications, and inspection instructions. • Knowledge of AISC, AWS D1.1 Welding Code - Structural Steel, Inspection and Acceptance Criteria. • Ability to work under direct supervision and to follow written instructions and techniques. • Basic mathematical aptitude   required. Knowledge,   Skills,   and Abilities: • Continual improvement – Must continually   be growing   one’s craft learning new tools and techniques to manage   oneself.
