The role
Responsible for production setup activities including mold changes, parts handling, and automation changeovers. Maintains and improves tooling condition while supporting troubleshooting and repairs on the production floor to ensure efficient operations.
Key Responsibilities
Production & Setup
• Perform mold and insert changes, machine start-ups, and production line changeovers
• Set up parts handling systems, format kits, and automation equipment
• Support production operations, including alarm response, troubleshooting, and line start-up/shutdown
Maintenance & Troubleshooting
• Conduct preventative maintenance on molds, tooling, and parts handling equipment
• Diagnose and repair mold, hot runner, and automation issues (including basic electrical/wiring)
• Perform small part repairs, insert changes, and precision measurements
• Repair or implement solutions for safety and equipment issues
Automation & Tooling Support
• Maintain and troubleshoot parts handling and automation systems
• Manage preventative maintenance programs for automation equipment
• Fabricate/install guarding and support engineering projects as needed
Documentation & Inventory
• Maintain tooling condition records and documentation
• Track spare parts inventory and coordinate replenishment
• Complete shipping documentation and support R&D scheduling
General Support
• Assist packers and production staff as needed
• Maintain organized work areas and tooling spaces
• Perform additional duties as assigned
Schedule & Working Conditions
• Shift: 12-hour rotating schedule (6:00 PM – 6:00 AM or AM equivalent)
• Environment: Manufacturing floor with industrial noise, forklifts, and controlled temperatures (65°F–85°F)
• Physical Demands: Standing/walking for extended periods; lifting up to 80 lbs
• Overtime and on-call support required as needed
Qualifications
• High school diploma or equivalent preferred
• Manufacturing or setup technician experience a plus
• Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills
• Experience with precision measuring tools
• Basic electrical knowledge preferred
• Solid math skills and problem-solving ability
Additional Requirements
• Ability to work independently and with a sense of ownership
• Strong attendance, adaptability, and learning agility
• Willingness to complete required safety training (forklift, LOTO, etc.)
• Ability to use ladders and work safely with PPE
PPE Requirements
Includes fire-rated uniform, steel-toe shoes, safety glasses, hearing protection, and additional gear as required for specific tasks (welding, grinding, fall protection, etc.).
