Description
Principle Objective As a Service Engineer (Field based), you will be working as part of a team to deliver carbon neutral solutions to our clients. Preferably based in the Highlands but able to travel across GB. The role involves travelling to client sites throughout Scotland, staying away overnight as required, to carry out engineering and maintenance support to maximise the availability, efficiency, and performance of industrial biomass steam boilers. Many of the key responsibilities are outlined but these are not exhaustive, and we expect all members of the team to provide support and assistance as necessary. Knowledge & Experience – Multi skilled Engineer with a HND or above, or qualified time served apprenticeship in a mechanical/ electrical engineering discipline with a minimum of 2 years relevant experience in an industrial environment, with a preference for an electrical bias. – Experience in delivering field service & support – Experience in troubleshooting customer problems and acting as a point of contact for customer queries – As a customer facing member of the team, have the ability to develop constructive relationships with customers/Installers/own team. – Excellent communication skills - both written and verbal – Experience of fault finding and problem solving – Good planning and organizational skills – Proactive approach – Confident decision maker – Enthusiasm for continued learning – Hands on and flexible attitude – Working knowledge of MS Office i.e., Excel, Word and Outlook – Full UK driving licence – Desirable: – Experience of steam boilers and/ or wood pellet biomass systems – in particular boiler servicing/breakdown repair and storage/fuel feed systems – Basic understanding of PLC control system Key Responsibilities – Undertake/manage planned preventative and corrective maintenance – Respond quickly and efficiently callouts as required, including participation in an out-of-hours on-call rota – Routine servicing and inspection of mechanical plant, electrical equipment, and instrumentation within the portfolio – Support plant commissioning and start up activities. – Fault finding and trouble shooting – Host & induct specialist sub-contractors, and ensure they conform to site requirements – Ensure service delivery is supplied to the client under contract KPIs – General house-keeping duties as and when necessary – Stock Management – Use the company computerised maintenance system (Pirana) for scheduling and recording of all maintenance tasks – Complete site visit reports – Provide effective feedback to customer engineering team to ensure that they are aware of any system/site engineering abnormalities or follow up remedial works – Proactively comply with all the Company’s Health and Safety and environmental rules, regulations, policies and procedures – Ensure that all compliance and certification commitments are updated and maintained i.e. H&S and ENPlus – Produce and review risk assessments and method statements – Ensure proper authorisations are obtained for all works, including outside contract works, with line managers and clients – Follow required emergency procedures as documented and respond accordingly during emergency situations – Update job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities; reading professional publications; maintaining personal networks; participating in professional organisations – Assist with the development of training suite for internal and external stakeholders – Representing the company professionally when dealing with clients and site contacts.
