Description
Rebellion is hiring a Senior VFX Artist at their Oxford, England studio to join the VFX team on a large-scale shooter project. This role sits within the real-time VFX department, responsible for driving particle systems, post effects, materials, and UI visuals from initial concept through to final in-engine implementation. It suits an experienced VFX artist who has owned complex effects end-to-end in a real-time production environment and is comfortable working across multiple studio locations.
About the Role
The VFX team at Rebellion operates across studios in Oxford, Warwick, and Runcorn, working within a real-time VFX pipeline on a high-profile shooter title. Day to day, you are building and shipping effects using Asura, iterating closely with art and design to hit both creative and performance targets. This is a senior position, meaning you carry meaningful ownership over your effects and contribute directly to how the department works.
Key Responsibilities
• Author and implement real-time VFX using Asura, covering particle systems, post-process effects, materials, and UI visuals across the production.
• Own effects from early concept through to engine implementation, maintaining a high standard of visual quality throughout each stage.
• Optimise VFX assets and systems for performance, identifying and resolving bottlenecks within the real-time VFX pipeline.
• Mentor junior VFX artists, providing structured feedback on both technique and production discipline.
• Collaborate with art direction and design leads to ensure effects meet the visual targets and gameplay requirements of the project.
• Contribute to pipeline improvements, helping establish cleaner workflows and standards across the wider VFX team.
What You Bring
• Proven experience as a Senior VFX Artist in a real-time production environment, with shipped titles to your credit.
• Strong working knowledge of Asura or comparable real-time VFX toolsets used in professional game or interactive production.
• Solid grounding in materials authoring, particle simulation, and post-production workflow within a real-time engine context.
• A portfolio that demonstrates complex, polished effects across multiple production types, including high-fidelity action or shooter titles.
• Experience mentoring junior artists within a structured studio environment.

The studio offers relocation benefits, making this accessible to candidates outside of Oxford. For a Senior VFX Artist looking to work on a significant real-time production with real creative ownership, this is a substantive role at a studio with the infrastructure to support it.
