Description
As a Systems Engineer at Red Cup IT , you aren't just a "fixer"—you are a strategic consultant for our clients. You will serve as the final escalation point for complex technical issues and the primary architect for infrastructure projects. This role requires a blend of deep technical expertise in virtualization, cloud architecture, and networking, combined with the ability to manage multiple client environments simultaneously.
Key Responsibilities
• Project Leadership: Design and execute high-level projects, including server migrations (Physical to Virtual), Microsoft 365/Azure migrations, and network overhauls.
• Tier 3 Escalation: Act as the ultimate technical authority for the support team, resolving high-impact issues related to server crashes, core networking, and security breaches.
• Infrastructure Management: Proactively maintain and optimize client environments using our RMM and PSA toolsets to ensure 99.9% uptime.
• Standardization & Security: Implement and enforce security best practices (MFA, EDR, Backup verification) and technical standards across a diverse client base.
• Documentation: Maintain impeccable records of client configurations, network diagrams, and procedural "runbooks" within our documentation platform.
• Strategic Consulting: Assist account managers in "Technical Business Reviews" by identifying hardware lifecycles and recommending technology upgrades that align with client goals.
Technical Qualifications
• Experience: 5+ years in a Systems Admin or Engineer role (MSP experience highly preferred).
• Cloud: Expert-level knowledge of Microsoft 365 (Exchange Online, SharePoint, Intune) and Azure (VMs, VNETs, Azure AD/Entra ID).
• Virtualization: Deep proficiency with VMware ESXi or Microsoft Hyper-V (clustering, SAN management).
• Networking: Strong understanding of TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VLANs, and VPNs. Experience configuring business-class firewalls (e.g., Fortinet, SonicWall, or Cisco Meraki).
• Backup/DR: Experience with enterprise backup solutions like Veeam , Datto, or Acronis.
• Tools: Familiarity with RMM/PSA tools (e.g., ConnectWise, NinjaOne, Autotask).
Soft Skills & "MSP Fit"
• The "Chameleon" Factor: Ability to switch gears between different client cultures and technical stacks rapidly.
• Ownership: A "the buck stops here" mentality regarding technical problems.
• Communication: Ability to explain a $20k SAN replacement to a non-technical CEO in terms of "business risk" rather than "gigabytes."
