A defense/government contractor seeks a Senior Systems Administrator with deep VMware expertise to manage enterprise virtualized infrastructure. The role requires active Top Secret clearance and involves designing, maintaining, and optimizing VMware environments while mentoring junior staff and serving as a technical escalation point. What You'll Do • Design, implement, and maintain VMware environments including vSphere, ESXi, and vCenter • Manage and optimize virtual infrastructure performance, capacity, and availability across virtualized systems • Administer Windows and Linux server environments in virtualized settings • Perform system upgrades, patching, backups, and disaster recovery planning and testing • Monitor system health, troubleshoot complex infrastructure issues, and serve as technical escalation resource for incidents • Support storage and networking components related to virtualization such as SAN/NAS, VLANs, and NIC teaming • Implement and maintain security best practices, access controls, and system hardening • Mentor junior administrators and contribute to process improvements and operational documentation What You Need • Active Top Secret or Interim Top Secret clearance (required) • Deep expertise in VMware virtualization technologies (vSphere, ESXi, vCenter) • Advanced knowledge of Windows and/or Linux server administration in virtualized environments • Strong experience with storage and networking infrastructure (SAN/NAS, VLANs, NIC teaming) • Experience with system upgrades, patching, backup, and disaster recovery procedures
