🩺 We're Hiring – Senior Social Worker – Post Order Team 📍 Location: Glenfield, Leicestershire (County Hall, Groby Road, LE3 8RA) 🔖 Reference – SCS2016 🕒 Job Type: Locum – Full Time (Part-Time/Job Share Considered, Hybrid Working) 💼 Start Date: ASAP 💰 Rate/Salary: £38.00 per hour (Umbrella) About the Role: We are currently recruiting on behalf of Leicestershire County Council for an experienced Senior Social Worker to join their Post Order Team , supporting Special Guardianship Order (SGO) and Adoption cases. This is an excellent opportunity for a skilled practitioner with strong experience in post-placement support, trauma-informed practice, and permanence work to join a well-structured and supportive team. You will play a key role in supporting Special Guardians, adoptive families, and adopted children, helping to promote stability, resilience, and positive long-term outcomes following permanency orders. Key Responsibilities: • Provide emotional and practical support to Special Guardians and adoptive parents • Support families in adjusting to new placements and family dynamics • Offer guidance on therapeutic parenting and trauma-informed care • Identify and report safeguarding concerns, including attendance at Child Protection Conferences and Children in Need meetings • Support children and carers with trauma, loss, attachment, and identity challenges • Complete post-order assessments, including Adoption Support Fund (ASF) applications • Assess and review the ongoing needs of children and families and update support plans accordingly • Manage referrals and contribute to a busy duty system • Coordinate and refer families to therapeutic services, including CAMHS, counselling, and play therapy • Advocate for children and families across education, health, and specialist services • Work collaboratively with schools, health professionals, and partner agencies to achieve positive outcomes • Support life story work, ensuring children understand their personal journeys • Deliver or support workshops, training sessions, and coffee mornings for Special Guardians and adopters • Assist with events designed to support adoptive and SGO families • Support the Birth Records Counsellor with accessing, redacting, and sharing adoption records • Provide guidance and support to colleagues and support workers within the team • Contribute to early intervention work for families progressing towards SGO or adoption Requirements: • Qualified Social Worker with current Social Work England registration • Post-qualification experience within Children's Services • Experience working in safeguarding, looked After Children, permanence, adoption, SGO, or kinship care services • Strong understanding of attachment, trauma, identity, and post-placement support needs • Sound knowledge of SGO and Adoption legislation and statutory guidance • Experience completing assessments, life story work, and support planning • Knowledge of Adoption Support Fund (ASF) processes • Experience working effectively with multi-agency partners, including CAMHS, education, and health services • Excellent communication, assessment, report writing, and organisational skills • Ability to manage a varied caseload independently Desirable: • Therapeutic or trauma-informed training and/or qualifications Why Join Us? • Competitive rate of £38.00 per hour (Umbrella) • Hybrid working arrangement offering flexibility • Join a highly experienced and supportive specialist Post Order Team • Manage an average weighted caseload of approximately 15 cases • Work alongside Social Workers, Support Workers, a Psychotherapist, Birth Records Counsellor, and Team Manager within a wider Permanence Service • Opportunity to make a lasting difference to children and families following adoption and Special Guardianship Orders 🎁 Referral Bonus Available!
